about

'Storm’s Not Coming' allows you to visualize the trueness of the statement “when it rains it pours” and the lyrics echo stories from every walk of life – painful and hard struggles, but also the beautiful ones. Like the moment of “catching the rain on our tongues.” Palmer has an uncanny ability to paint a sonic picture around you, transporting you to the back porch of a storyteller while, at the same time, making it impossible for you to not nod your head and tap your foot.

“’Storm,’ for me, is a reminder to myself that I should stay involved -- socially, politically and environmentally. I reference a few specifics in the song, directly or metaphorically, but I’d rather let the listener interpret most of what I say lyrically.” Andy sees the song as a reminder that if we “don’t make a scene rolling in the dirt,” we may lose forever many of the things we hold close. “So, it's somewhat heavy, I suppose,” he says. “That being said, the song came from a lighthearted place. Every time my wife sees a distant, faint, wisp of a cloud, she’s all convinced a storm's coming. And, of course, it rarely does. That's where it all started.”

lyrics

Man, don't make a scene rolling in the dirt
Wouldn't want to be late for work
All was right as rain in your world
Now you've got a stain on y'er
Shirt

Ants can't stand underneath a boot
Pirates barter people and save the loot
Ask questions later first shoot
Do as your neighbor would do to
You

Welcome to the country
Something for all if you're mine or me
Welcome to the country
We live in ease

Farmer Dusty John's on his knees
Now how you gonna feed your family
Souls are heavy loads in times like these
Storm's not coming it's already

We'll catch the rain on our tongues
We'll catch the rain

Welcome to the country
Something for all if you're mine or me
Welcome to the country
Welcome

Storm's not coming
